Port Health Authorities are responsible for ensuring that bivalve mollusks harvested in UK waters are safe for consumers to eat. This is achieved by sampling shellfish beds for contaminants.
As a primary producer we have a duty to ensure that the product we are placing on the market is safe. The best practice way for us to do this is by a combination of risk assessment based on observation and local knowledge of the waters, awareness of specific events that may affect the scallops beds being harvested and possibly indicator testing with full testing should indicator testing show the possible presence of toxin.
Because we are in a position that we cannot guarantee they are safe we must advise the person we supply that this is the case and ideally provide them with information on how to remove toxin by practicing the correct shucking method.

Our main catch are king scallops and prefer to deliver them in their shell, this keeps them fresh and keeps the prices down. However the toxins that were found in 2014 has meant that the FSA put a stop to all scallops being sold in shell while known toxins are above the level required.
We also catch Plaice, Lemon and Dover Sole, Monkfish, Turbot and Brill. Squid, John Dory, Cod, Whiting, Ling, Dab, Flounder
We can also provide other species which we source from other fishermen directly.
All our fish comes gutted but otherwise untouched and amazingly fresh!
We will also try and fix prices so menu planning with profit in mind is easier and small quantities is no problem.
